It makes use of Audi’s “Space Frame” construction that employs a variety of strong, yet lightweight materials. The Coupe, for example, has a dry weight of just 3,260 lbs. The Spyder, weighing in a bit heavier than the Coupe, has a lightweight soft convertible top that stretches tautly as to minimize its effect on performance. It hides neatly away in a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer covered compartment when not in use. The top can put up or down in about 20 seconds, even at vehicle speeds of 30 mph.

The wrap-around design of the cockpit allows those behind the wheel to keep their eyes on the road ahead. A 12.3 inch TFT monitor serves as a virtual cockpit, allowing the driver to select from a variety of driving-related details like lap times, tire and oil temperatures, a tachometer and even g-forces.
