Electric Vehicle Environmental Impact
Electric Vehicle Environmental Impact
Reducing CO2 emissions by going electric is one way we can lessen our impact on the environment. The Dimmitt Automotive Group is proud to have a variety of hybrid, PHEV, and battery electric vehicles in our portfolio, serving communities across Tampa Bay like Zephyrhills, Largo, and Safety Harbor.
Electric and Hybrid vehicles emit fewer greenhouse gases and air pollutants than petrol or diesel cars, even taking into account their production and the electricity generation required to keep them running. The emissions created during the production of an electric car tend to be higher than a conventional car. This is due to the manufacture of lithium ion batteries which are an essential part of an electric car but that impact is offset over the course of the car’s lifetime. The green credentials of a hybrid depend on how much of the journey is driven on electric miles as well as the way in which the vehicle is charged.
Another major benefit of electric cars is the contribution that they can make towards improving air quality in towns and cities. With no tailpipe, pure electric cars produce no carbon dioxide emissions when driving. This reduces air pollution considerably. EVs can also help with noise pollution.
