From its wider and flatter single-frame grille and strong bridges spanning its large front air intakes, the 2019 Audi R8 rolls to the starting point with a slightly more aggressive appearance. A wider front splitter, rear fascia air outlet, bold side panel air intakes, and oversized diffuser funnels the air over, under, around and through the R8. With nearly 50% of its parts identical to that of the R8 LMS GT3, no other automobile is as close to racing ready as the R8. The 5.2-liter V-10 engine has been honed and massaged to generate 562 horsepower with 406 lb. ft. of torque. Choose the R8 Performance for an even more impressive 612 horsepower and 428 lb. ft. of torque. Both exceed previous editions and can transport you from zero to 60 in just over a “before you know it” three seconds. A top speed of 199 mph will test the limits of adrenaline.
Audi engineers have tuned the standard electromechanical power steering for more precise control while the optional dynamic steering bonds car and driver even tighter. There’s also more precision and stability coaxed from the already impressive R8 chassis.
