The 2019 McLaren 570S, however, makes it a bit more reachable and even a smidgen more practical. McLaren says the 570S provides “day-to-day usability and drivability.” Translated, this means more luggage space and interior storage space. It still, at its core, is a world-class two-seat sports car with exceptional power and acceleration. All the iconic McLaren touches are there like the dihedral doors and dramatic, bold styling. McLaren’s “day-to-day usability” proclamation should not convey the 570S is the car to choose for a family outing. It has racing DNA through every strand of its carbon fiber tub. The twin-turbo 3.8 liter V8 engine will get you where you want to go quickly. Mounted behind the cockpit, this throaty power plant generates 563 hp and 443-lb-ft of torque. A sequential 7-speed gearbox drives the rear wheels to a top speed of 204 mph. Don’t think the McLaren can get from zero to 60 in about 3.2 seconds. McLaren is obsessive about weight, with a lightweight but nearly indestructible Carbon Monocell chassis. It has a stealthy dry weight of just 2989 lbs.
From the Track to the Driveway
The 2019 McLaren 570S offers some nice conveniences and an abundance of practical technology that make it a bit more “daily drivable”. These include little things like a tad more upright setting, a vanity mirror, and even cup holders. There is more space for luggage and even a well-placed set of golf clubs. Leather seating is a bit thicker and the dihedral doors make entrances and exits easier. A TFT Instrument cluster serves to keep you informed of speed, gear selection, and rpm. Secondary data is provided in outer sections. A 7” touchscreen keeps you entertained and connected. A 4-speaker, 240-watt audio system is standard. The interior is uncluttered yet elegant.
Attention Grabbing Design
The 2019 McLaren 570S uses a variety of bold intakes, vents, and curves to carve through the wind while creating a stunning design. Sparkling LED headlamps and muscular curves lead to the teardrop cabin and finish with flying butteresses. A racing-inspired rear end is elegantly trimmed in slimline LED light blade LED tail lights. Then, of course, there is those distinctive upward-swing dihedral doors that create an additional “wow factor” to this already impressive sports car.
